Over the next week, my company is going to slowly be rolling out some new project management software. Apparently, no one was happy with our old software, and I can’t say I blame them. It was little more than a basic calendar for assigning tasks. It offered no insight that would help improve efficiency or accountability.

From what I hear, the new software has resource allocation and detailed project time tracking. I’ve talked to a few people who are scared by this as they think the company is going to crack down on their work habits. But I think this is great. It really is in our company’s best interest to get organized and to improve our overall efficiency. It’s even more important when you consider today’s economy and how many businesses are folding under the pressure.

My only concern is the usability of the software. I really hope they chose one that’s user-friendly because I’m not the most computer savvy person out there. The last thing I need is project management software that’s confusing and ends up just slowing everything down.

I’m eager to start messing around with this software. I really think it’s a huge step in the right direction for our company.
