From the time I was around 6 years old, I was on SSI, which is Social Security Insurance.  This is disability insurance for those that are unable to perform any type of work.  I was on SSI due to a bad left hip that was thought to prevent me from being able to do any type of work.  As I got older, I discovered that I had the ability to work in non-strenuous jobs and eventually got off of the insurance.

As a result, I know that disability insurance is a much better alternative in the event someone is disabled.  A person can receive a disability insurance quote online from many different disability insurance companies.  Regardless of the type of work that you do, there is a disability insurance package that can work for your.  There are even packages for physician disability insurance.

Disability insurance packages are a better alternative over SSI due to the fact that with SSI, you are prevented from working anywhere.  Let’s say you worked for years as a mason and then were disabled and unable to build homes anymore.  With SSI, you would be prevented from working.  With a disability insurance package, you could find work in another field or in another position while recovering from your disability. 

For those of you without disability insurance, look into purchasing some to protect your family and your way of life.
