I just read about a woman who is attending an online university that has a large online degree component.  She started her career in 1976 by pursuing an associates degree in accounting.  As she learned more on the job, she started rising up the corporate ladder.  The rise up the corporate ladder necessitated additional education.  She completed her bachelor’s degree about ten years later than her associates.  Her education was postponed because of raising her children and tending to the needs of a household. Some 20 years later she is completing her online degree in the receipt of an MBA. 

In retrospect imagine if she was the same person but was starting her degree today.  Getting her associates degree would be something she could have done online.  Having a family and tending to a household may not have postponed her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree; it is something she could have done online on her timeline.  A rise up the corporate ladder would still be a part of her life, but her education could have been accelerated.

Online education gives you more options.  An online associate degree gives you a lot of options too.  They allow for learning about a given subject in a given course of study.
