It can be fun dressing up at Halloween in costumes from another era. With a little bit of ingenuity and some planning, it shouldn’t be hard to put together some 50s costumes. If you’re doing couples Halloween costumes, then you can go as a greaser in a black leather jacket and motorcycle boots and a bobby soxer wearing poodle skirts and penny loafers.

Or, you can pull out Dad’s old gray flannel suit for him, and Mom’s old pearls and cocktail dress for her and go as the Organization Man and his faithful 50s housewife. If you’re feeling avant garde, you could go as a couple of beatniks wearing black turtlenecks, berets and sandals.

The great thing about doing 1950s costumes is that this era gives you lots of options. You can always go as 1950s pop culture icons like Marilyn Monroe or Elvis and that could be even more fun.
