My sister is trying to find her place in the world. She just finished her first two years of college and doesn’t quite know what’s next for her. She thinks that she wants to work for a few years before she finishes school but she doesn’t know what she wants to do.

We have had a lot of long talks about the topic lately. I asked her what she likes and she gave me a lengthy list. “I like children and jewelry and helping people and drawing and …” You get the picture. I told her that it’s great that she has lots of interests because that means she has a lot of options for finding a job that she likes.

She says that the problem is that she likes a lot of things but she doesn’t love anything. She had a job creating educational games for kids and she thought it was neat but didn’t feel passionate about it. She tried waitressing for awhile and thought it was fine but just didn’t love it. I think that with some more experience she’s eventually going to find her place in the world. It’s tough to see her struggling to find her footing, thoughm so I hope it happens sooner rather than later.
